Fields of application
Made primarily from volcanic rock, Rockwool insulation products offer a combination of properties that no other insulation material can match. Rockwool products are used in applications as diverse as protecting against hydrocarbon fires on platforms, reducing noise from air ducts in offices and insulation lofts in family homes.
The key environmental impact of Rockwool insulation is its ability to conserve non-renewable fossil energy and reduce air pollution as a result. It is one of the few industrial products that actively improve the environment.

Flat roof
Rockwool stone wool is used as thermal, acoustic and firesafe insulation of the flat roofs where the hydro insulation membrane is placed above the thermal insulation. It is adapted to all membrane types, such as PVC, TPO and bitumen. The main advantages of the Rockwool stone wool are its non-combustibility and steam permeability.
Internal construction
Application of the Rockwool stone wool in the internal partitions provide acoustic and firesafe insulation of the partition walls as well as the mansard, floors and external walls. The noise absorption and firesafe properties of the Rockwool stone wool proved to be particularly advantageous in this segment.
Contact facade systems
For the purpose of utilizing the stone wool on the contact facade systems, Rockwool offers high quality products enabling application of the thin and thick Rockwool finishing facade layers.
Industrial refurbishment (OEM)
Rockwool products for industrial utilisation are always produced according to the buyers’ specification. One of the most rapidly growing areas of application is production of various sandwich panels which are used in construction industry for facade or roof elements. The panels can be made out of profiled sheet metal, wood or even concrete, but the functionality of the Rockwool stone wool remains the same – the bearing element of the final product.
Fire protection of the construction
The Rockwool's production program contains special products for fire safety of different construction elements such as the air conditioning channels, steel constructions, concrete ceiling constructions, pipes and similar. By proper choice of firesafe materials it is possible to achieve fire resistance up to 180 minutes.
Industrial insulations
The field of industrial insulations includes insulation of the heating and ventilation plants as well as process technology in energetics, refineries and similar. In this segment, the requirement for the high-temperature insulation, normally above 250°C, is readily satisfied by the Rockwool stone wool due to its high melting point (above 1000°C).
